We’re a couple of Midwestern climbing nerds that are pursuing our dreams of growing Nebraska’s climbing community. We’re both avid rock climbers, scientists, and educators that want to share our greatest passions with Lincoln, Nebraska and beyond.
Nebraska has given us a place we’re proud to call home. It’s where we cheer on the Huskers every season, where we fueled our passion for science and health, and where we’ve made lasting relationships with amazing people who are driven to do good. We want to support our community just as they’ve supported us all these years.
At MW Climbing, we’re committed to our mission of inclusivity. No matter what skill level, age, gender identity, or background, we want all of our guests to feel right at home! We’re proudly partnering with local businesses, organizations, and schools to strive for increased accessibility to climbing.
Our History
MW Climbing started out in 2016 as a single climbing wall in our tiny apartment in Lincoln, Nebraska. We spent an entire summer slowly building it in our friend’s garage, carefully designing the frame, drilling in the t-nuts, and meticulously painting each panel.
About a year later, we moved our climbing wall into a rental storage locker and expanded our home gym. With the help of our friends and family, we transformed this empty metal box to a full blown training center.
For 4 years, this garage saw dozens of climbers sweat through the summer nights and brace the cold winter mornings. We’ve seen how an amazing, supportive community can grow even in a small, dusty garage. Now, we want to invite all of Lincoln to climb with us and experience what this amazing community has to offer - in a much larger space, of course!
MW OMAHA IS NOW OPEN
We’re so excited to announce that MW OMAHA is NOW OPEN. If you’re new to MW, we’re excited to welcome you into our space and can’t wait for you to see what we’re all about.
Many folks ask what MW stands for and we’re here to let you know it’s the initials of Matt and Wendy (read our story here). More importantly, however, we stand with our mission of providing a fun and inclusive climbing space shared by all.
MW Climbing is team-built. With our own hands, the MW Team framed Lincoln’s climbing walls, sewed the padding, built furniture, and more. Suffice it to say that we take great pride in sharing our creations with you— none of which would have happened without the continued support from our friends, family, and community. MW Omaha is no different. From bathroom tiles to wall angles, we’ve designed every detail to give YOU the best experience in our home.
